A Trained Leader is a registered adult. Youth Protection Training is a joining requirement for all registered adults and must be retaken every two years. In addition to this critical training and screening, the Troop's adult leaders are also asked to complete the following courses - this is all done to improve the program for our youth.
Adult leaders in units are considered “trained” and eligible to wear the official Trained emblem when they have completed all the online and in-person classes for the position in which they are serving
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) course builds and expands on the concepts and themes introduced in Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training and provides Scouters with the confidence to take youth into the outdoors.
Adult Leaders in the Troop must complete the online Hazardous Weather Training every two years. The course, available through the My.Scouting.org portal, covers weather safety, planning, and preparation.
Adult leaders supervising a swimming activity must have completed Safe Swim Defense training within the previous two years.
Safety Afloat training is designed for all authorized boating activities. Adult leaders supervising those activities have completed their Safety Afloat certificate.
The University of Scouting is an annual supplemental training event for adult leaders put on by the Council, designed to provide in-depth training across various topics.
Wood Badge is an advanced leadership training course for adult leaders in Scouting, designed to improve their skills in areas like leadership, team development, and conflict management.
