Horsethief Butte is one of our favorite rock climbing destinations because it works for all skill levels. Its basalt formations and stunning views of the Columbia River and Mt. Hood are worth the climb. This is our go-to spot for working on Climbing Merit Badge.
Smith Rock State Park is a world-renowned destination with thousands of routes for various skill levels, from beginner to advanced, we love the wide range of climbing options that abound not too far from home in Central Oregon.
Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, Colorado is a designated National Natural Landmark with a rich history - but we love the rock climbing because it offers stunning views of red rock formations, and routes from beginner slabs, to difficult cracks and even desert towers.
Most of the Summer Camps we attend have a climbing program, tower, wall, or excursion. That is beneficial because these settings provide a safe, supervised environment to learn technical skills and begin Climbing Merit Badge.
We go frequently to various climbing gyms because it is a fun and accessible way to build strength, endurance, and flexibility while providing a supportive community and controlled environment for learning new moves.
