Advancement is the process by which Scouts progress from rank to rank and is the method by which we promote and encourage the ongoing involvement and commitment that keeps members coming back for more. It works best when a Scout's active participation leads to meaningful achievement and recognition—and to a continually improving readiness for more complex experiences
A Court of Honor is a formal ceremony in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) for recognizing Scouts' achievements, such as earning new ranks or merit badges. These events are held periodically, typically every three months, and are open to Scouts, their families, friends, and the public. There is also a special, separate ceremony called an Eagle Court of Honor for Scouts who have reached the highest rank of Eagle Scout.

An Eagle Scout Court of Honor is a formal ceremony to celebrate a scout who has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). It is typically planned by the scout's family and troop, often includes speeches from guests, and features the presentation of the Eagle Scout award, parent and mentor pins, and the Eagle Scout charge. The event is also a chance to thank those who supported the scout's journey.
